Have you ever seen The Father of the Bride? With Steve Martin & Kimberly Williams-Paisley...
In the beginning of the movie, Annie (the oldest of the Banks children) comes home from studying abroad. The Banks family is sitting around the table talking about her time away and she shares some big news. She says- "I'm getting married." Her dad, George, sees her making this grand announcement as the 5-year-old version of herself. Naturally, he is stocked and a little upset. How can she be getting married, she's too young and innocent.
I kind of feel that way when I think about this beautiful, young woman going away to college in the fall. Just a bit of our backstory- I was chosen to serve the youth in my church and Leah was one of them. The first time I met her; she was 13 years old. (Right, Leah?) A lot has happened in our lives over the last 5 years and somewhere along the way, we became extremely close. School performances, family dinners, birthday parties, essays and interviews, yard sales, and traveling abroad... During our times together, I made a list of all the things she loves so that if she ever needed an extra bit of love or support, I could be that for you.
Some of my "Leah Loves..." list...
Sushi,
The color pink (its likely because she looks so darn pretty in pink),
Traveling,
Lemon & coconut Noosa yogurt (a staple when she had braces),
Sunrises & sunsets,
Mixed sodas,
Folksy music,
Singing and playing ukelele...
Leah is beyond loveable. She is fun and funny. She is intelligent- mentally and emotionally. She is independent and hardworking. She is the girl next door! (She knows what I mean...) It has been and will always be my pleasure to know & love her! I cannot wait to see what comes next for her... Sky is the limit, sweet girl! :)
