This family settled in for what they expected to be an easygoing evening, but Mama’s body had other plans. Two weeks earlier than expected, labor began. After putting her older two children to bed, she and Daddy headed to the hospital.

At first, nothing seemed wrong. But once they arrived, the situation quickly became serious. The medical team realized they could not safely manage the placenta and baby, and Mama was rushed away for an emergency C-section.

Mama was experiencing a placental abruption, a serious pregnancy complication in which the placenta partially or completely separates from the inner wall of the uterus before delivery.

Daddy was overwhelmed by fear for both his wife and child. In the middle of the chaos, he turned to prayer.

Then came the sound that changed everything: the cries of a baby. A nurse soon stepped out to confirm that the crying was coming from his baby girl.
