A common question that clients often ask after booking is, “What should I wear for my newborn session?”
The simple answer is neutrals.

For those of you who are looking for more tips & tricks, keep reading... :)
DO's
Momma First: Pick your outfit first- assuming Momma is the one reading this! :)- as your postpartum comfort and confidence is paramount.
Neutral Colors: Focus on muted color palettes like beige, gray, or soft pastels to keep the attention on the baby.
Layering: Knit cardigan or eyelet dress photograph beautifully as well as add warmth and texture.
Comfortable Clothing: Choose soft, breathable fabrics that allow easy movement.
For Moms: Dresses are the easiest and most forgiving option, and allow you to relax and enjoy your family as much as possible, without worrying about the angles of your legs/hips/etc. They’re certainly not a requirement, but they are beautiful and freeing!
For Dads: Dads have it easy! I like to keep men simple in a light-colored t-shirt or button down and chinos.
For Baby: For in-home sessions- I recommend the less is more approach for baby- naked, swaddled in one of the swaddles I bring, or in a white onesie.
For Siblings: If you have another child or other children participating in this session, it would be much easier to select their outfits according to what mom and dad is wearing.
I typically encourage comfortable clothing that will allow a child to move around easily, sit on the ground, and not have to constantly fix a falling sleeve or falling suspenders. If you have found an outfit for the other sibling(s), it would be a good idea to have them try it on in advance.
DON'Ts
Avoid Busy Patterns: Simple designs are best; steer clear of loud patterns that may detract from the baby as well as the emotion & connection that surround your growing family.
Matchy-Matchy: If including siblings or partners, coordinate colors without matching exactly.
